EUDR Insighter · v1.5 beta
EUDR plot check for your due diligence
Does the land hold up? Upload your plots and get a report with the evidence: where the land is, what is on it, what happened to the forest and what the official registers say.
Romania: get the GeoJSON of an APV from its code, no account needed.
Or schedule a demo and we walk you through a check on a real plot.
Two parts of EUDR Insighter
Any country
Land check on any plot
Upload the outline (GeoJSON) of any plot, anywhere, and get the land check with its report: where the land is, what is on it, what happened to the forest and what the official registers say.
Romania
RO Geo APV: the GeoJSON of an APV
Type the code of a Romanian APV (harvest permit): we show the outline of the u.a. it names and give you its GeoJSON file, ready for the DDS. No account needed: when the APV is included, the file downloads at once; otherwise you sign in, pay for the APV and then download it.
Your account keeps what you did. Every land check with its report, and every APV file you ordered, stay in your account, each with the date it is kept until: open them again and download them again at no charge from your account.
Three ways to work with us
Try it
Sign in with your work e-mail, top up your balance and test the service on your own plots. You won’t be charged anything until you confirm a check that displays its price.
Need a larger volume or several keys?
For a team with several keys, a larger volume of checks or an integration with your own system through the API. Let’s discuss what you need.
Support the project
For organisations that want to support or partner the development of EUDR Insighter, or simply to support it. We will contact you to discuss.
Who it is for: EUDR operators and traders
Companies that buy or sell wood, cocoa, coffee, soy, palm oil or rubber and have to show that the goods do not come from land that lost its forest cover after 2020 (the EU Deforestation Regulation, EUDR).
The service gives context and warnings with their evidence, never a risk rating. It is not a certification and it does not replace your own due diligence: the responsibility stays with your company.
Two steps: GeoJSON, land check
Where the land is
You: Sign in with your work e-mail to get your access key, then upload your plots as one GeoJSON file: an outline (polygon) or a point for each plot.
You get: No per-check fee with your access key. The country, whether the plot falls on water or in a settlement, its size, and whether it makes sense to continue: yes, with care, or stop. Once the price is shown, two first figures per plot, not charged: the forest share at the end of 2020 and the share in protected areas.
A first answer in under a second
What is on the land, and the report
You: Look at the price and confirm the check: it is charged then, before it runs.
You get: The land check of each plot in three parts (A Land use 2020, B Land changes after 2020 and C Protected and indigenous land, with the plot facts on page 1 of the report), and one report for the whole submission: a table that sums all plots, warnings that name the plot, an index of the plots on the first page and a map of each plot. Where the data is too weak, it says “not verified”.
Usually a few minutes per batch. You can leave and come back: the result waits in your account.
The report is not a separate step: it comes with the land check (step 2). One report per submission, for all its plots:
- a table that sums all plots, each row with a reference figure and the range over the sources: land at the end of 2020; natural or plantation; protected or indigenous area; burned; not changed, trees cut or unclear
- warnings that name the plot or plots they concern
- an index of the plots on the first page
- a map of each plot
One outline can cover up to 10,000 hectares; a point is read as a circle with the area you declare. The documents check and the plot carbon estimate are a dedicated app or API, offered separately, not part of the website check: contact us.
Prices per submission
Prices per submission, excluding VAT. The Identifier has no per-check fee with an API key (the key is issued after e-mail confirmation on this site). The Analyzer report, with the online checks of each plot, is priced per submission by the number of plots.
| Check | Price per submission, excl. VAT |
|---|---|
| Identifier (the key is issued after e-mail confirmation on this site) | no per-check fee with an API key |
| Analyzer report, up to 10 plots | €10 |
| Analyzer report, up to 30 plots | €20 |
| Analyzer report, up to 50 plots | €25 |
Your access key holds a balance in credits: 1 credit = 1 EUR, with top-ups of €25 / €50 / €100. The exact price is shown before each check, and nothing is charged until you confirm; the check is charged then, before it runs. The balance is valid 12 months from your last top-up. What fails on our side is given back. A plot the same key checked in the last 90 days is not charged again.
Larger jobs run through the dedicated API: contact us.
With a dedicated key Dedicated API - not part of the website check
For larger companies, a dedicated API key is set up under a contract with your company. These services are not part of the web shop:
- Final report API (available on contract): Fetch the final report of each checked plot through the API.
- Outline correction API (on request): Send a faulty outline (or another format); get a corrected outline to accept, then have it checked.
- Due diligence statements (on request): Your due diligence statement (DDS) can be submitted to the EU information system (TRACES) for you.
- Your checks in our platform (on request): See and manage your checks in the Sustainability Today platform.
How a check is charged
The Identifier has no per-check fee
With your access key (issued after e-mail confirmation on this site), sending the GeoJSON file and the Identifier, the first answer of each plot, have no per-check fee. A file refused at upload is never charged.
First figures before you pay
After the price is shown, each plot the Identifier let through gets two first figures from our own maps, at no charge: the share of the plot that was forest at the end of 2020 on the EU reference forest map of 2020, and the share in protected areas, where our protected-areas data for the place is verified. They are first figures, not the result. A figure that could not be made is “not available yet”, never 0. One access key gets first figures for up to 300 plots in 24 hours.
Charged when you confirm, before the check runs
The price is shown after the upload and is set by the number of plots counted. You pay once, when you confirm, before the check runs.
What fails on our side is given back
At the end of the check, a plot that could not be checked is given back when it changes the price. Paid from your balance: the credits come back as a line given back and stay valid at least 30 days after they come back. Paid by card for that check: the amount given back is reverted on your card; credits of that payment already spent on another check stay as credits used.
How the EUDR check works
Three parts of the land check, and the plot facts
A, Land use 2020: forest and land use at the end of 2020, from satellite maps, cadastre and official records; B, Land changes after 2020: land use since 2020 and the cadastre now; C, Protected and indigenous land: protected areas, indigenous and community land, other conservation areas and species recorded near the plot. Plot facts (page 1 of the report): terrain, climate, water, access, soil and one carbon line. Parts A and B answer warning, no warning or not verified and count in the result; C and the plot facts are information. Each part lists its sources.
Context and warnings, not a rating
A short summary, the sources used, and a warning or no warning. It never gives a plot a risk rating: you make the risk decision. Where the data is weak, the answer says “not verified” instead of guessing.
Access key and balance
Sign in with your e-mail and a one-time code: your access key and its balance in euros belong to that e-mail, and you can show the key on your account page. Your balance is used only when you confirm a check, and the page shows the price before you confirm.
How each step works, the report and the services of the dedicated API: Methodology. Detailed coverage, or whether a specific country is covered: write to [email protected].
Due diligence statements, traceability of volumes, suppliers and risk scenarios are available on demand through the Sustainability Today platform: Platform and custom builds.
What the answer says, and the limits of its sources
Maps can disagree
Each source answers in its own way (definition, cell size, year, method), so sources give different figures for the same land. Maps are estimates made from satellite images; registers show what was recorded, on the date they were read.
A reference figure and a range
Each row of the table gives one reference figure, from one named source or rule, and a range over the sources held: the lowest and the highest figure, each end one source’s own figure. A narrow range means the sources agree.
A source not read is “not verified”
A source that applies to the plot but could not be read makes the part “not verified” for what it would have answered, always with the reason. A sub-part for which we hold no data for the place says “No data held” and does not count.
Never “no warning” by silence
A missing answer never counts as “no warning”. A “no warning” means the check ran and found nothing, and it names what was looked for.
The accuracy of each source is in the report
Page 3 of the report lists every source the report cites, with what it was used for, its publisher and its published accuracy and limits.
Every source the website check reads, with its publisher, cell size and years: Methodology, sources.
Questions about EUDR Insighter
What is EUDR Insighter?
EUDR Insighter is an online check of the geolocation of your plots (a GeoJSON file), for the due diligence that the EU Deforestation Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, EUDR) asks of operators and traders. For each plot it gathers evidence from maps and official registers, and returns a report with the sources used and a warning or no warning. The documents check and the plot carbon estimate are a dedicated app or API, offered separately, not part of the website check: contact us ([email protected]).
Which EUDR commodities can I check?
Six of the EUDR commodities: cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood. Cattle is not checked. You choose the commodity when you upload the plots.
What file do I upload?
One GeoJSON file with longitude and latitude in WGS 84, one plot per Feature, up to 500 plots (above 50 plots, a random sample of them is checked). Each plot is an outline (polygon) or a point with its declared area, up to 10,000 hectares. KML, shapefile and other formats, and the correction of outlines, run through a dedicated API: contact us.
What does the land check look at?
Three parts and the plot facts: A, Land use 2020: forest and land use at the end of 2020, from satellite maps, cadastre and official records; B, Land changes after 2020: land use since 2020 and the cadastre now; C, Protected and indigenous land: protected areas, indigenous and community land, other conservation areas and species recorded near the plot. Plot facts (page 1 of the report): terrain, climate, water, access, soil and one carbon line. Parts A and B answer warning, no warning or not verified and count in the result; C and the plot facts are information. Each part lists its sources.
Does EUDR Insighter decide whether a product may be placed on the EU market?
No. It gives context and warnings with their evidence, never a risk rating, and it does not decide whether a product may be placed on the EU market. The report supports your due diligence; it does not replace it. The risk decision and the responsibility stay with your company.
How reliable are the maps and registers a check reads?
Maps are estimates made from satellite images, and registers show what was recorded, on the date they were read. Each source answers in its own way (definition, cell size, year, method), so sources can give different figures for the same land: each row of the report gives one reference figure and the range over the sources held. A source that applies to the plot but could not be read makes the part “not verified”, with the reason, and a missing answer never counts as “no warning”. Page 3 of the report lists every source it cites with its publisher and its published accuracy and limits.
How does the report describe a loss of forest?
A loss seen on the maps is called forest cover loss. The report says that land was converted to another use only where the new use is shown; a loss can be a harvest, a storm or a fire, so the report says what the land became. Any proven conversion after 2020 is a warning of part B.
What does the report hold?
One report per submission, for all its plots: a table that sums all plots, each row with a reference figure and the range over the sources: land at the end of 2020; natural or plantation; protected or indigenous area; burned; not changed, trees cut or unclear; warnings that name the plot or plots they concern; an index of the plots on the first page; a map of each plot.
How much does a check cost?
Identifier: no per-check fee with an API key (the key is issued after e-mail confirmation on this site). Prices of the Analyzer per submission, excluding VAT: analyzer report, up to 10 plots: €10; analyzer report, up to 30 plots: €20; analyzer report, up to 50 plots: €25; the online checks and the report are included. You pay a check by card for exactly its price, or from the balance of your access key (top-ups of €25, €50 or €100, valid 12 months from your last top-up). The first figures are not charged; a check is charged when you confirm it, before it runs. A plot your key checked in the last 90 days is not charged again and duplicates are not charged. What fails on our side is given back: credits given back stay valid at least 30 days after they come back, and a check paid by card is reverted on the card for that amount.
What do I get before I pay?
With your access key (issued after e-mail confirmation on this site), sending the GeoJSON file and the Identifier, the first answer of each plot, have no per-check fee. A file refused at upload is never charged.
What happens when part of a check fails?
At the end of the check, a plot that could not be checked is given back when it changes the price. Paid from your balance: the credits come back as a line given back and stay valid at least 30 days after they come back. Paid by card for that check: the amount given back is reverted on your card; credits of that payment already spent on another check stay as credits used.
Which countries are covered?
Plots can be anywhere in the world. In version v1.5 beta, step A (Land use 2020) is covered for 244 of 247 countries and territories (partly covered in 2 more) and step B (Land changes after 2020) for 220 (partly covered in 9 more); these two steps count in the result. Step C (Protected and indigenous land) is covered for 56 (partly covered in 171 more) and the plot facts (page 1) for 77 (partly covered in 170 more); they are shown for information and not counted in the result. Where we hold no data for a place, a sub-part says “No data held” and does not count; a source that applies to the plot but could not be read makes the part “not verified”, with the reason. The Coverage page lists every country.
How long does a check take?
Plots get a first answer within minutes; the full check usually takes a few minutes per batch; you can leave and come back, the result waits in your account.
